Shopping as war

Shopping, regular shopping been a joy and a chore. Generally it was something nice. I often didn't do any long lists and didn't think that much about food shopping. During the isolation and a lockdown I actually think about it a lot more than I would have wanted to. We have lists, we wait for as long we can. We plan what to buy and what not to buy, we even debate on what vegetables and fruits to buy in order to consume it in the best way. Man, I really miss running to the closest shop in the evening because my husband is baking a cake for tomorrow and we ran out of something. Right now it's a battle! I try to think of my husband when he leaves for a shop (it happened only once yet and mostly because no delivery can bring you good fresh vegetables and fruits) as of viking who leaves me on drakkar. It's fun.

These photos were taken two days before we were put to lockdown, we had to do some chores and decided to snap photos in between. My mask was about to be due so I took it off and made photos without it before putting on the new one.
Backpack was there for carrying foldable bags for shopping, documents and antiseptic. Comfortable shoes, jeans and sweater are great to go shopping and move freely, glasses actually help me see price tags better and also protect eyes.

I was wearing:
H&M sweater
Uniqlo jeans
Arny Praht backpack
c/o Glassesshop glasses
Fila sneakers
Belt originally belonged to my mom, it's older than me. First time usage on me: when I was less a month to hold the wrapping blanket

Have a nice day,
Lyosha

  3. Changes are not always bad. I feel like I shop more mindfully, thinking more of what we actually eat. I am now even thinking of starting what all the moms do, planning meals! Haha. I am getting wiser. This lockdown is a good thing :)

  4. Before this pandemic, I was always so busy I ordered my groceries to be delivered about twice a week. Now that I have been less busy and stuck at home, I would love to be able to get out and about. It is funny how perspectives can change!

  15. I think I enjoyed shopping much more when I was younger. Now, I consider it much more of a chore. I like to go in and get what I need and get out. I don't much like looking around, etc.

  17. I have to admit I don't find shopping that much of a chore at the moment. We can't get everything we'd like (flour is insanely hard to source) but I've loved having the opportunity to get to know our local shopkeepers more and try out new produce I might've overlooked before. We're lucky we've got a lot of amazing local stores near us and that we live near Covent Garden Market where the traders are delivering all sorts of delicious produce to local people.

In our area, public transportation has been suspended, and private vehicles are allowed on the roads only if you are a front-liner. I do grocery runs with a backpack and two reusable shopping bags which I strap on my bike rack. I get 2 things done - shop for food and other essentials and get some exercise in as well. Pedaling a bike loaded with about 30 kgs of food and other items is not an easy task!

  24. I completely understand what you mean! My husband and I weren't really list makers when we went shopping (unless it was a huge grocery shop and we were out of everything) but now we have to be so mindful about what we really need and how long the items we purchase will last. Here, we have to wait in long line ups just to go to the grocery store so it is certainly a strange experience.

  26. I had to find a specific cable cord for work and it was so interesting to see how different stores were reacting to the pandemic. Definitely eye-opening. Thanks for sharing your post!

  27. You look cute in your glasses! I hate it when I forget to take my glasses shopping. As I get older, it's hard to read the signs above the aisles. I, too, miss running into the store for one or two items. I've needed milk and flour for five days.

  28. I am actually missing being able to go and shop for clothes etc. Love your glasses too by the way - very cool x

  29. I've been doing personal grocery shopping for people to help them out during the pandemic and it has been very strange being out on the roads or even in the stores. For fun we've been putting lists together of what we want to do and where we want to go when we are free to move about the planet again. I just don't know when that will be. Until that time we wait.

  30. Shopping is more fun before the pandemic. But now, it's a big struggle because we need to consider a lot of things including our own safety.

  31. I actually enjoy going to the supermarket. I only go every 2 weeks or so and it's a nice way to get out of the house and enjoy walking for a bit.

  33. Oh, shopping has become a nightmare everywhere in the world. We are trying to live off of what we have in our freezer without going near shops. We will have to eventually.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I am really scared to go shopping now. We have reduced our shopping trips considerably. It will be hard to go in crowded shops once everything goes back to normal.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I do the same thing. I usually go out to shop every two weeks and by that time most items have already been consumed. So I try to actually think of meals I'll make for that period and buy groceries based on that. Been good so far! Stay safe and healthy 🙏

    ReplyDelete
  36. It's the same here. I try to go shopping only once a week, but I also do the food shop for an elderly lady, so sometimes I have to go twice. The wait in front of the shop is often up to an hour, but at least it's not so crowded once you go inside.
I love the note about your belt, it must be so special to still have that so many years later. What a great accessory.

  37. The pictures are fun - I love the locations that you've found. Since all this started, my husband has been doing our grocery shopping. So, I haven't stepped foot into a store since early March... it's crazy to think! I feel like I've been totally cut off from the world and really miss just running in to pick something up, like you were saying. I have been getting some enjoyment out of some online shopping though, I'm not going to lie! It's a great way to pick up some of the things that I need without having to go anywhere...

    1. good for you with online shopping! For me online shopping is no fun and I do the online shopping out of necessity. You know, buy a spare or fix something or buy most of the grocery list like flour or milk.

  38. So so true girl! I've never considered myself a huge shopper until now. I have SO many lists now- grocery lists, things to buy for the changing weather, lists of things to put away. I MISS being able to just go and grab a few items at the store. Now we need a list so we don't forget anything when we go out!

  39. I used to be such a huge shopper but since I started studying about intentional living , I find that shopping is now just a necessity and only when I really need to get something.

  42. You are so cute on your sweater. I think it is so much fun to do shopping at least once a week and take a long walk as an exercise.

  43. I have come to loathe grocery shopping as well, just because it is hard to plan when the store doesn't have something while trying to dodge other customers and maintain distance. Thankfully things are starting to settle back down here, and shelves are actually being filled. But it is still my least favorite chore right now. Flour is impossible to find still. I'm curious when that will no longer be the case.

  44. I can honestly say I have not stepped foot into a grocery store since this lockdown started. I'm a lover not a fighter, I would not be able to handle the "war" lol.

Happy Halloween

Don't you just loove  Halloween ?everybody does! This year we made it very special  decorating  everything, cutting a huge pumpkin and creating yammy  Halloween  food. We've celebrated this holiday at the exact date October 31st at home with friends. I chose the costume of intelligent witch (yeap, jedi costumes are not fair for Halloween) and finally worn my little black dress I wear so seldom. Max decided to come to usual role of ordinary Murre vampire. He's the best in this part.  Our little ghost this is my entery for IFB project #70 I was wearing: little black dress I own since I was 9 years old (I still more than fit in it) Topshop hat Jeffrey Campbell heels Chanel makeup   Have a nice day, Lyosha

What's in my bag?

I never did such post and really wanted to fill in the blanks here. Moreover I wanted to do it because I recently got two items which are hard to show in the outfit but are part of my daily life and style for sure. Plus it's it fun to have a closer look in my daily life? That's why I want to show you my bag contents. When I'm not wearing a backpack which usually means I have a sports uniform inside or planning or carry something more or less big or going for some travels (so I need my hands as free as possible) I tend to use smaller scale bags. The point is to have only minimum of necessary things with me and not to loose something important. This time I'm featuring my recently most loved bag by NewChic (you can shop it here ). Usually I have a wallet with me. When who doesn't? We still money to life, right? It is my very new and super comfy wallet which was provided by great company NewChic  I recently posted two posts with their awesome items here and h

Tanchoo the talk

You might have noticed I often wear accessory marked Tanchoo (my favourite rings I tend to wear with almost each outfit) or some Russian designer clothes I'm wearing. It's all from wonderful shop Tanchoo . I love this shop so much so when I thought about launching the post series about fashion in form of interview I never thought twice and contacted lovely shop owner Tatiana or simly Tanchoo to start it. This is Tanchoo herself modeling for her shop. this is me wearing some of Tanchoo accessories.and Dina Faradgeva top also from this shop And this is the interview: 1 Tanya the first question would be most ordinary but nevertheless interesting: why your shop and accessory line is called Tanchoo . What does it mean?   Tanchoo is my name is the sphere of design and for life. No my real name for sure is Tatiana but my friends call me that way - Tanchoo or Tanch)) That’s why then it came to choosing my brand name and afterwards the project Young Russian Design
