Sugar Lane. The interview.

This is a very important interview for me. Because this time I had a chance to talk to wonderful fellow blogger about her designs, wonderful clothes, ideas and past. many of my readers know her as well - Sugar Lane. I don't think there is much I can tell you about her because she'll tell it to you better so read the post and jump to her blog Sugar Lane

1 How did you start the line? How long did you plan that? Was it a longterm dream or the idea just came up to your mind and worked?
I started “Sugar Lane Design” a year back, but it was something I wanted to do earlier. A design line had always been on my mind, even before studying fashion design; I started experimenting with silks in 2009, while I did my MBA in India. I wanted to design something special, unique, and use all those wonderful Indian silks that we can barely find in Europe. So I started selecting vintage fabrics… turbans were the first thing I came up with, as they’re my key accessory, but then I wanted to do something more personal, some garment where you could really enjoy the touch of silk, and that’s how the robes were born!
2 Does blogging help you with your designs?
Blogging helps, it’s like a shopping window. The Internet is really useful when you start a business, especially if you are selling online. Blogging also involves visiting many other websites, so that also helps during the creative process; it’s a huge source of inspiration. However, I try not to overload sugarlaneblog.com with my designs, I don’t want to bore my readers with self promotion, so I just post about it when there is a new collection or I include some garments on my personal style posts eventually.
3 Which were your first memories regarding fashion?
My mom is also a fashion designer, so most of my childhood I was surrounded by fabrics and threads… I loved arranging and classifying buttons at her studio. I got my first sewing machine when I was 5, it was a kids version in pink, turquoise and yellow, but it actually worked!
4 Tell us about the first piece you ever designed
Well, apart from mini dresses for all my Barbies, the first piece that I designed 100% was my favorite silk coat. I fell in love with the brocade pink and green heirloom silk, and I knew it had to be mine, so I got it and after a lot of thinking I turned it into a coat. I fell so proud when I tried it on, I guess that was the moment I decided this is what I wanted to do.

5 A little survey for Inside and Outside blog: some say talented in fashion kids usually try to make their toys look better (repainting for example) did you do something like that? And if you did then what?
LOL, I love repainting! Actually in my family we have a saying: “Paint any reality that you don’t like”. It’s a metaphor for life, but I use it a lot for walls, furniture or anything that I don’t really like J I don’t think it has to do with fashion or talent, it’s just that creative people can’t stop reinventing their surroundings. My DIY section on the blog is a good example; it’s usually about fashion, but sometimes I feel like painting a door or making candle holders and I just do it!

The gingerbread house

Mixing, remixing and matching. That's what we do so often that don't actually understand. I love feeling comfy and stylish at the same time so I need some remixing with cool comfy pants. That's why I tend to wear same pants so often esp when it goes to everyday life. I'm sorry but I'm not the one who snaps outfits everyday (I'm in Russia which means that I leave home for work when it's still dark and come back when it's dark already) so many out my ideas or layers stay not seen, This is an outfit that made it. Max and I went to get some shopping therapy to local mall. Our small camera was with us so we went to kid's sectore and took some photos. Why not?     I was wearing: Jacket c/o Oasap Glasses c/o Firmoo Pants c/o Motel Rocks Shoes Alba Coat Desigual   Have a nice day, Lyosha

Cute before wet

Date day outfit and some contect shooting as well. I like this dress a lot, it always looks very favourable on me. I paired it with a black comfotable shoes and a belt. I forgot to takeoff my Garmins but I think it turned out pretty nicely. The best action I did wearing this outfit is drinking some matcha in the middle of the day with my partner. Funny thing about this outfit is that I didn't get to wear it a lot. Unfortunately it suddenly started to pour heavily and I became soaking wet. I had to change to continue on with my day. I was wearing: Befree dress Porta shoes belt is hand me down from mom   Have a nice day, Lyosha

Casual and handy skirt

Hello! One of the most comfortable daily looks I have worn lately. Positively obsessed with the skirt. It is So comfortable and handly. Lots of pockets as well if you know what I mean. I wear it run errands on regular basis. I like that the color makes it look interesting. Overall I am quite happy with the way it looked. Nice and easy I was wearing: laola skirt Etro belt  and bag Cuidado con el Perro top and sneakers Sanrio socks   Have a nice day, Lyosha
