Dog Photography Tips and a Shoot

It is a completely off topic post so bare with me. My border collie Surak got his first ever offer. He reviewed (positively) dog food. We also made his photoshoot and he was such a good boy! The photos were fantastic and as proud Dog Mom (even though I don't really like being called that way) I just have to share it with you. And as I love pet bloggers (hi, Britt, if you read this) I am not going to even have a dog blogger topic here.

And to at least pretend this post is not that bad, here are some tips on how we made pet photos.
1 Play with your dog before shooting. It is better if your pup is a tiny little bit tired.
2 Have a help of extra person and a toy. Second person holds the toy, it helps a ton to work with where your dog's looking. Calling your pup is not a great idea because it may result in moving around. Also tail might start to move and might end up blurry. You do not want that.
3 Pay attention to how your dog behaves. During the shooting Surak didn't feel like sitting, I didn't force him to, I let him lay. If your dog hates the place or pose you want your dog to have it might only lead to oddly looking furry face and spoiled photos.
4 Don't hesitate to take a brake. have fun, give couple of kisses and belly rubs, let your dog feel you are happy with what you are doing.
5 Take million photos! You might want to so photo series (it's when your camera make 3-7 shots after one button push), it helps to avoid blurriness if you shoot with movement and help a lot with blinking.
Have a nice day,
Lyosha

  9. Well I have to say, Surak is a great model! haha, but seriously, I love these tips on getting a good photo shoot with your dog. I guess the better trained your dog is, the easier but it makes sense to tire him out before the shoot so he isnt too distracted or hyper. Maybe the same thing is good for kids too!

    1. surely training helps a lot, the more obedient your dog is the better but generally you don't essentially need that to make good photos.
I think there is a lot in common with kids and dogs. however, you should never try a trick with a toy with kids, most likely it will lead to different reaction: running towards it or crying

  14. These are some great tips! Trying to get photos of our pets isn't always easy - in fact, some of my sponsored shoots have taken multiple tries on different days just to get the final pictures that I'm after lol! There are days that the dogs just aren't interested in being a model and you have to be able to roll with it. That being said, you got some GREAT pictures here! Allowing your pup to lay down really worked for you! (Thanks for the shoutout! lol)

  15. Aww he took such good photos. Do you think these tips could work for my cats? lol

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. why not? surely it's harder to push your cat to do something but you can observe your cat and his or her behavior and adapt to take photos. I'd suggest to catch your cat a little sleepy, normally it helps

    1. it's relatively new brand from Italy. the do holistic food, meat is the main ingredient. no soy, corn, wheat and artificial elements. they have food for cats as well and it follows the same path. however I do know of any cat who actually tried it so I don't know if it is actually good

  28. I love these photos of your dog! They are simply adorable. Such great tips too on taking photos of a pet. I have to get pics quickly before my cat realizes I am taking them, because he somehow knows I want to take photos and turns into a turd about it. Lol. It's a great lesson in being stealthy with the camera.

    1. for any furry animal fur is a big indicator of health. basically shiny, silky fur is a lot like acne-free skin for humans

Explore Starcon

I'm going to brake up vacation post series to share the Starcon experience. A week ago I was sitting on the same spot and getting ready to go. We've been to lovely Saint  Petersburgh. We managed to have a charming walk in the  evening even right after the con. Starcon was all about sci-fi and we loved it so much. We even wore the Jedi costumes (wait for them in the end of post). Max, my lovely husband, sewed them for only 3 days (that's why the design is so simple). and I also got 2d place in Star Wars Miniatures board game tournament took place there. I'm so happy! As for outfit - I've chosen a super comfy outfit with a very cool pants! I bought them on ebay and they are more than 20 year old pants (I guess soon they could buy booze on their own but I doubt I need it). I love them for their shape - keeping me cool during hot and warm when needed. Oh, and can I also call it my pijama pants trend pants? or not? What I also wanted to mention you are my fab set jewel

Say 'yes' to a dress with Yesbabyonline

When you start on inspiration posts it hard to spot. At least for me. I feel like I am half awake in my bed, feeling super lazy and have to strict plans for the morning so I am hitting the 'snooze' button. I almost hear myself saying 'five more minutes' and I do mean five more minutes but I fail and hit 'show me more' button. Inspiration from online shops devour me. Yes it is budget friendly (you don't need to buy things even though you do want to) but it is not safe for your time. I can't really say I am against it, it is a good to relax and is also useful if you need to wait for your partner to finish some stuff to do. This evening it works especially well because I am waiting for my husband to finish the page. I am more or less limited by time so my online inspiration will be most pleasing. As always I wanted to set up a topic to make it even better. My topic for today is long formal dresses . Out of tons of online shop I picked the best for me toda

МКММ + Couture Fashion Show

So! I am so very excited! I have visited my first real actual fashion show ever since March and I couldn’t ever be happier. It’s just wow! This time I visited MKMM final shows merged with Couture Fashion Show later that night. I had a chance to see many wonderful shows by young and talented designers and enjoyed it a lot. Creativity everywhere. Something is purely catwalk (and I totally don’t mind it at all), something that is very easy to imagine rushing the streets, something very creative and futuristic and making a statement with so much in between. Overall in love. I don’t think I really can be picky because after all those digital shows real made a huge impression on me. It almost as if I am visiting my first ever fashion show but better because I know what to expect. I think you are not reading this and already scrolled past this point and enjoy the contestants. And don’t blame you at all.  RU: Прекрасные новости! Мой первый настоящий офлайн показ с марта месяца. И он оказася пр
